    This group meets with members of the Prairie Spirit School Board to form the Prairie Spirit Home-Based Education Committee. Last year the Parent Liaison group helped draft the new home-based education policy now in effect. Members of the Prairie Spirit Home-Based Educator Parent Liaison group include: Lori Giesbrecht,Kayla Hunt, Teena Ens, Melissa Ong, and Shelley Gilbey.

Volunteer Opportunity

We are starting a volunteer program at Circle Drive Special Care Home that will appeal to students aged 16 to 18 interested in the field of Nursing. It is similar to the old candy striper program. Students, two at a time or one student together with a parent, would offer snacks, treats or magazines to our residents. Saskatoon Children’s Choir Auditions

for 2016-2017 Performing Season

The Saskatoon Children’s Choir auditions for 2016-2017 performing season will take place on April 30, May 3 and 30, and June 4, 2016. The Saskatoon Children’s Choir offers young singers a rich and challenging experience. All young people who enjoy singing are welcome to audition.

The Saskatoon Children’s Choir has three choirs: Preparatory Choir for children aged 7-9, Apprentice Choir for children aged 8-13 and Concert Choir for young people aged 12-16.

Sing Choirs of Angels: Saskatoon Children’s Choir in Concert

SASKATOON, SK – The award winning Saskatoon Children’s Choir (SCC), under the direction of Artistic Director Phoebe Voigts, will be joined by a number of professional brass, string and percussion players from Saskatoon for its annual Christmas concert “Sing Choirs of Angels”.

The annual concert takes place on Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 7:30 PM at Knox United Church in Saskatoon, and will feature the angelic over 120 choristers, with Michelle Aalders at the piano. On the program classical and contemporary choral music, as well as the choir’s stunning renditions of traditional seasonal favourites.

“We are delighted to be joined by so many Saskatoon’s professional musicians once again for this year’s concert,” said Voigts.  “Their presence not only enriches the selections on the program, but also creates a wonderful learning experience for our choristers.”

The SCC is a strong presence on the world choral stage. They have performed in France, Spain, Austria, the Czech Republic, China, the United States, South Africa, united Kingdom, Ireland and across Canada. Last summer they were awarded two gold medal placements at the European Choir Games in Magdeburg, Germany.

Tickets are $25 and $15 (limited sight lines) and are available at McNally Robinson Booksellers, and at the door. Reserved seating.

HOMESCHOOL SKATING 2014/2015

Dates:     Oct. 20/14 to March 30/15  (cancelled on Dec. 22, 29, and Feb. 16)
Time:      Mondays 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Where:    Warman Diamond Arena
– This program is a free drop-in ice time for home-based education families in the Prairie Spirit School Division.
– We split the rink space 1/2 & 1/2 for skaters & rec hockey.
– There are bleachers in a heated visiting area for parents and non-skaters:)
EASY RINK RULES:
* everyone on the ice has to be wearing skates (no boots)
* soft-puck hockey only (due to no equipment being worn, and non-hockey skaters also using the ice surface)
* for hockey, no slapshots & proper helmets are required (cages for young players recommended)
PARENTS:  please inform your family of the rink rules, and it will be your responsibility to enforce them with your kids – Thanks:)
